HILARIOUS SPECIAL EFFECT MOMENTS

QUOTES
Sinbad: And what’s so relaxing about that?
Firouz: The soothing sensation of water massage.
Sinbad: Wouldn’t it be simpler if I just tied a rope to you and dragged you off the stern for awhile?
Firouz: Point of fact, no.

Sinbad: Where’s Dermott? {she nods to the top of the mast} What’s he doing up there?
Maeve: Posting a watch. Like me, he doesn’t view this to be much of a joy ride.
Sinbad: Maeve… I’m well aware of the seriousness of our voyage, and… I know you value your feminine intuition, but…
Maeve: Feminine intuition, is it?! Oh. Okay. Tell me this. Don’t women as—as  brave and as beautiful as Alanna generally get attracted to men, umm… like you.
Sinbad: Why thank you Maeve.
Maeve: It wasn’t meant as a compliment. It was meant as a warning. She wants something from Doubar.
Sinbad: He’s simply showing her some goodwill. Being a perfect gentleman.
Maeve: And she is being a spider. Spinning her little… web.
Sinbad: What?! {looking at Rongar} Women. Right?

Alanna: Does my presence create a problem for you?
Maeve
: Depends on how you define problem.
Alanna: Well no doubt being the only woman aboard gave you a certain… status. A certain power. And I would imagine you know how to use your female charms and wiles to their full benefit. Don’t you?
Maeve: I am a member of this crew because I am on a mission.
Alanna: Hmm… and what would that be? Winning the captain’s heart, perhaps? Good luck on your mission.

Maeve: I’m going to watch her like a hawk. {looks down at Dermott} Make that two hawks.

Alanna: Well how long will it take?
Firouz: A moment or two. Unless of course you find the sensation pure bubbling pleasure…

Sinbad: You did the right thing.
Doubar: That being?
Sinbad: You treated her openly. Warmly.
Doubar: You mean I was acting like a love-sick fool.
Sinbad: No one who offers love is sick, nor a fool, big brother. That much I know.

Alanna: Bring it to me. With it, I can solve all our problems.
Sinbad: You’ve been our problem all along.

EPISODE IMAGE RECAP

POINTS TO PONDER

What a frustrating waste of a wish. In the very least, I think they should have made Doubar look a lot sicker (unable to walk; bed-ridden; feverish; hallucinating). It didn’t look serious enough to warrant such a powerful wish—and he didn’t even look like he was going to die. I mean, I love Doubar, don’t get me wrong, but the little boy even warned him. Maeve warned him about Alanna, and he ignored her. Why doesn’t he ever listen?! If he had, the little boy would have gone home, and they wouldn’t have had to waste the wish. Besides, I fail to see why Firouz couldn’t heal him (and barely seemed to try). He was pretty confident in The Ghoul’s Tale—and what’s more difficult: curing a snake bite, or a curse?
Better yet, they should have made it so that Maeve remained missing, and used the wish to find her. That would have been sweet, and a lot more dramatic. Plus, a cute reunion for Maeve/Sinbad fans. Besides, Doubar gets his in-need-of-rescue moment in the next episode. He shouldn’t be such a drama-hog. ^_^
Oh, and on a completely unrelated note: Alanna’s death was really funny. That is all.
