HILARIOUS SPECIAL EFFECT MOMENTS

QUOTES
Maeve: Doubar didn’t see anything! Did you Doubar?
Doubar: No, but that doesn’t mean anything.
Maeve: But… in your experience…
Doubar: Sinbad might be younger than me, but he’s had a lot more sea-faring experience. He first went to sea at twelve, captained his first ship at fifteen. If he says he saw a ship run aground, believe it. Come on, let’s look for survivors.
Maeve: {talking to Dermott} Ugh. You men… you’re all so stubborn.

Doubar:  That tattoo on his chest… a cult?
Firouz: It’s not a tattoo, Doubar.
Doubar: What is it then?
Firouz
: I believe it’s a thumb print.

Stewart 1: We were attacked by a monster!
Stewart 2: A most hideous monster!
Stewart 1: He was as big as a palace!
Stewart 2: Two palaces!
Sinbad: What did this monster look like?
Stewart 1: Oh, it all happened so fast…
Stewart 2: Too fast to see…
Stewart 1: From below deck.
Doubar: What were you doing below deck?
Stewart 1: Retreating…
Stewart 2: It’s a military maneuver you know!

Sinbad: Did you see where this thing took him?
Advisor 1: Somewhere in there {points to the right; his companion points to the left} Well…
Advisor 2: We couldn’t really tell where…
Advisor 1: The ground was obscuring our view.
Doubar: While practicing your military maneuver…
Advisor 1: Precisely!
Advisor 2: Quite!

Maeve: {to Dermott} I was worried about you.
Sinbad: I was worried about you, Maeve. {Maeve laughs} You never cease to amaze me.
Maeve: The feelings mutual.

Firouz: We shouldn’t over-react. It’s probably just an ordinary human being afflicted with some strange disease… I know of one disease, elephantiasis… it, it could explain a very large fellow; some cases grow to be 8 feet tall. {the “human” roars}
Doubar: And the thumb print on that soldier’s chest? It was as big as a horse’s head! {the ground shakes, and the sound of footsteps can be heard reverberating through the forest}
Firouz: Well, there’s this other condition. Umm, acromegaly. It, it causes ones hands and feet to grow very, very large. {another inhuman roar, and then they see a giant Cyclops-thing with hooves appear before them}
Doubar: By all that is holy…
Sinbad: Or unholy. What condition would you call that?
Firouz: Monstrous. Definitely monstrous.

Young Sinbad: I couldn’t save her Doubar. I… I couldn’t save her. I was weak. The sea took her from me because I was weak. {speaking to the sea} But you just wait! I’ll learn to beat you. I’ll train. I’ll study. I will be your master. I will become Sinbad… master of the seven seas.

Doubar: Did you find your monster Sinbad?
Sinbad: Funny thing, Doubar. That monster died years ago. I just never got around to burying him. So I guess this trip was worth it, eh? Everything has its reason.

EPISODE IMAGE RECAP

POINTS TO PONDER

This is totally unrealistic, and only wishful thinking on my part… but I’m going to go ahead and pretend that Leah was actually Maeve when she was young. I don’t have a good reason, I just think it would be an adorable/romantic concept… and since the series ended so abruptly with nothing being resolved, it’s as possible as anything else. Besides, we know so little of Maeve’s past that with some tweaking, it could definitely work. So if you’re curious, here’s my “take” on the situation:
Leah is exactly how I’d picture Maeve at that age—they both have red hair, and both are independent and bossy. But here’s the kicker (though truthfully, it’s a small kick): If Leah’s Fortune-Telling Aunt is as gifted as she’s made out to be, then certainly she would have seen the early death of her niece, just like she foresaw Sinbad’s fame. So perhaps Leah survived, somehow, and it was all part of a greater plan—her dead body could have been conjured or fake or something—or Doubar could have been mistaken or even bewitched. (Hey, it’s not THAT big of a stretch!) So, anyway, “Leah” was found by Dermott; she lost her memory and was renamed Maeve; her adoptive parents were killed, leaving only her and Dermott (just like Sinbad and Doubar only have each other; another “similarity” Dim-Dim mentioned); Rumina cast her spell, trapping Dermott as a Hawk; Maeve became Dim-Dim’s disciple.
See? Simple. ;)
Plus it’s romantic. Not to mention that it gives those quotes from earlier episodes a lot more depth—and in so doing, rises them to a whole new level of awesome. (Seriously though, doesn’t Sinbad’s flash-back speech about mastering the seas remind you of Maeve?! Because the sea took away his first love, he devotes himself to mastering it; Maeve devotes herself to learning magic in order to defeat Rumina and free Dermott. Neither really chose their path—outside influences interfered, creating their paths for them. And sure, there’s a deep connection in that fact alone; but it’s so much cooler if you consider that Maeve really was Leah—that their fates were connected from the very beginning. Ah, the circle of life. Has a whole new meaning now, doesn’t it?
Yeah, yeah, I know. Illogical, but I can dream. That's one of the good things about a series getting cancelled -- nobody can really throw proof in your face to contradict your outlandish theories. Especially in a series that deals with sorcery, demons, and ghosts.
